FAQ

General Questions

What do you provide?

We provide new full suspension mountain bikes, new kayaks, new hydration packs, new fox gloves and fox flux helmets, transportation to and from and local guides that have a genuine interest in showing you Marin.

What should I bring?

With our climate you never know, bring comfortable shoes for biking, hiking, etc, layers to accommodate hot / cold temperatures, sun screen, sun glasses, power bars (energy bars), and a change of clothes if you will be kayaking.

Multiple day tours?

Yes. We are able to take a group for 1-2 day bicycle, hiking, camping tours. Tell us your dream trip and we will make it happen.

Surfing? I have never tried, not sure if I can?

Yes. Trust us, try surfing at least once. Stepping into liquid is life. We will take you to a safe environment with a guide that will teach you the basics. The water is cold in this area, you will wear a 4/3 wetsuit and ride the appropriate board for your skill level. We cater to beginner to expert surfers.

Surfing tours will take a half day, if you are a avid surfer we recommend going for a full day, we will hit multiple breaks.

Half day or full day? There are many options which one should I do?

Half day tour (+/- 4 hour) is a good choice for the group who wants to focus on one activity and does not want to rush the tour.

Example: Beginners will take the majority of a half-day to complete the tour, if avid riders then if time permits we will enjoy a hike or sightseeing.

A full day tour is for the group who wants it all. This (+/-7) hour tour is unlike any other. We listen to your wishes and take you there, your in control. (Example: Surf in the morning, bike and kayak in the afternoon. #2, expert bike tour, long and hard with kayaking to finish. #3, long hike and kayak tour, etc.)

A good medium is to book a half day and add on a kayak tour. (Happy hour on the bay with the city as the backdrop is a great way to end any tour.)

#4 My partner and I want to do a mountain bike tour. I am a long time rider and he/she just started. Can you give us a tour that is challenging for me and not to hard for them?

Yes. We will not be ripping single track, however we will be riding fire roads that allow a great work out and killer views throughout. There will be downhill descents to give you a pump. The ultimate goal is to give your partner a taste of mountain biking in a controlled environment in hopes of catching the bug. Every couple we have taken out has loved the tour, its more about experiencing a new activity together then charging with the bros.

How do we pay, do we need to give a deposit?

We use the honor system. No deposit needed, we take care of the payment after the tour. All we ask is if for some reason you need to cancel, let us know when you know. We would rather be riding then waiting for a no show.

We accept Cash, Visa, Discovery, Mastercard and pay pal “only to pre-pay.”

How do we reserve a tour?

Email ride@stokedsf.com to schedule a tour.

Can anyone kayak?

Yes. Our new kayaks are sit on top and allow all skill levels to enjoy this sport. It is a very relaxed and a non-technical way to experience the Bay. We do limit this to people who are comfortable swimming, we provide safety life vest to all guests.

Can beginners enjoy the tours?

100% yes. We tailor each tour to the groups’ skill level. Beginners will enjoy every aspect of our activities, we are able to work on your skills and get you on your way for your next adventure.

What is Marin?

Marin is the name of the county located across the Golden Gate Bridge. Marin is the home of mountain biking with endless single track, hiking and surfing located minutes from SF. If you enjoy the outdoors you must experience Marin.

Stoked SF is based out of Sausalito, in Marin.

How do we meet you for the tour?

We have you take the ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito. There are two locations:

a) Ferry building at Market St @ Embarcadero Find the schedule here. (Recommend, great shops inside and very mellow, away from Fisherman’s Wharf)

b) Pier 39: Fisherman’s Wharf Find the schedule here.

Taking the ferry is a must for any visitor traveling to SF. The ferry is a beautiful way to see SF, Alcatraz, GG Bridge and the bay. The trip takes 25 minutes, enjoy a drink and sit outside and take in the views. Stoked SF picks you up in front of the Hotel Sausalito, left when you get off the ferry, next to Inn above the tide. After the adventure we drop you off at the ferry to return to SF.

Exceptions: If we leave early for a surf tour we will pick you up at your hotel, for happy hour rides we may pick you up at your hotel and drop you off.

We recommend staying in Sausalito for dinner or happy hour after the tour, it truly is a beautiful place.

Why choose Stoked SF? What makes your service different from others?

Stoked SF is a collective of local shredders that developed a network in order to connect visitors of San Francisco to the sport / activity (mountain biking, surfing, kite surfing, multi day biking / hiking tours, kayaking, snowboarding, skiing) that they love. We have a passion for the outdoors and our mission is to give our guests a local perceptive on locations that are off the beaten path.

We do not believe in mass tour groups where different skill levels are mixed together.

We provide a private tour with all new gear. Its your day, enjoy it.
